WindFORM 2.0 for ICR
The fast, easy way to design forms for optimum Datagold recognition
The payback time for an automated forms processing system using intelligent character
recognition as DataGOLD can be as little as six months - provided
ICR accuracy is consistently high. The best way to obtain high legibility, and then a
better recognition accuracy is to improve the design of forms using Windform for ICR.
How Windform for
ICR works
Windform for ICR software allows you to create forms that are custom-tailored to
enable the highest DataGOLD performance. It uses special graphical
devices like boxes and tick marks, plus information about the data fields - such as how
many characters, numeric or alphabetic - to design forms that help people write their
characters clearly and distinctly. The result is an "ICR-friendly" form that
promotes maximum legibility and, consequently, enables the highest ICR accuracy. That
means fewer rejects for keyboard operators to correct - which dramatically boosts data
entry productivity.
Define Recognition
Zones While Designing Forms
WindFORM for ICR software automatically zones your forms for DataGOLD
recognition even as you design them. Using handy pull-down menus, you designate the
specific data characteristics of the recognition zones on the forms - hand print, machine
print, alphabetic characters, numbers - simultaneously while creating those fields.
Automatic Forms
Identification
Windform for ICR solves the forms identification problem by creating a special
ID number for each form you design. That ID number is recorded by the DataGOLD
software at the time you create your document. Later, during forms processing, the
same ID number is used to activate a special template which tells Datagold exactly
where to look on the form for registration marks, hand print, machine print, note fields,
and check-box data. Forms can be printed using specially colored inks that "drop
out" because they are invisible to a scanner, thereby leaving only the data
originally intended for recognition.
Special design
features
Windform for ICR's special graphic design tools enables you to lay out the data
fields on documents so they can be easily located and segmented, then optimally recognized
by DataGOLD . For best results, the ICR-friendly form graphics,
with the exception of registration marks, should be printed in a "drop out"
color.
- Segmentation devices for hand print : it encourages people to fill out forms so
that printed characters do not touch each other. Isolated, discreet characters can be more
easily located and recognized by DataGOLD than those that run into
each other.
- Isolated Character Boxes
- Adjacent Character Boxes
- Comb field
- Blank data fields for machine print, notes and signatures are data fields without
segmentation devices, which are used for machine print recognition. They can also be used
to capture notes and signatures.
- Creates matrix with any number of row columns for easy data base link.
Library of ICR
objects
Any group of ICR objects can be saved and retrieved from disk in order to create easily
new forms from a collection of existing forms.
- Standard registration targets give DataGOLD a means of
"anchoring" predefined recognition zones precisely to their intended locations.
- Graphic Targets
- Pre-printed symbols and punctuation marks such as hyphens, periods, and dollar
signs eliminate the need for DataGOLD to locate and recognize them
because they are created in advance as part of the form.
- Pre-printed instructions, when conspicuously positioned on the form, serve to
remind users to write neatly and legibly.
- Fields
- Pre-printed instructions
- Registration marks
- Isolated character boxes
- Adjacent character boxes
- Comb
- Line
- Note field
- Machine print field
- Check box
- Pre-printed punctuation
- Mark Sense Alpha Matrix
- Mark Sense Number Matrix
Database mapping
and calculations
- Field definition and validation. String, Date/Time, True/False, Currency, Byte,
Integer, Long, Single, Double, Binary, Memo. Field attributes type and size are extracted
from the databases.
- Rules and calculations. Click twice the Rule column of the spreadsheet. The
selected form field can be calculated in function of the other fields in the form.
Calculations are implemented between the form fields and existing data base records. For
example a multiple choice answer can be inserted into a client history memo field. The
calculation functions are equivalent to the Excel 5.0 functions: String, Date and Time,
Mathematical, Logical, Financial, Statistical. Rules include minimum range checking,
maximum range checking, lookup and custom validation.
- Autolink. Autolink links automatically database and form fields
- Relations and indexes. Relations between tables and indexes can be easily done by
clicking on the objects.
- Data Base creation. Any data base can be created from the existing form fields
structure. Secondary tables complete efficiently existing database tables.
